I just came back from Germany a few days ago. It's really like my second home now, and
s family made me feel really welcomed. It was pretty funny because it was raining almost all the time, I wasn't really prepared for that
But Tobi dug up an awesome and huge yellow raincoat for me that made it worth going out to the city.
I had made friends with a beadmaker in Hannover while visiting a bead shop, and this time she taught me how to make lamp beads
I just made a few simple ones not really worth uploading, but I might put up a photo of them to my scraps. I was terribly unhandy though, I envy the patience of the beadmaker lady.
Tobi and I also visited a flea market together- I've never been to a flea market before, and I'd say that was one of the most remarkable moments of the whole vacation. One of the most interesting items that I saw was a Liebe ist für Alle Da vinyl + CD pack ;D We eventually didn't buy it though, I got myself a bunch of cheap things, and Tobi a PSP.
I was at a party and met most of Tobi's friends, who are all lovely and awesome people, and some of them I had not met before. For example there was Paul, who has the script of the one Ring on his wrist (+2 coolness points) and is a pretty good drummer (+8 coolness points) I could see their band's former rehearsing room and heard an improvised little concert. That was maybe the fact that awoke one of my greatly suppressed desires: to sing in a band.
It doesn't even have to be a band, I just really, really love to sing; but I was hiding this fact from everyone, because my voice is really not at all that good. I can sing in key but my voice is really weak so I would just never sang in front of anyone. I talked to Tobi about this later, and he encouraged me not to suppress this further. So I'm memorizing a bunch of songs now and whether I am hopeless or a talented singer, he will be the judge.
I met
but not as often as I wanted to. Sorry mate, I hope we can catch up more next time!
I also met Markus quite often, and I was happy to see that he's doing very well. He moved to a new flat now, which looked almost exactly the same as his old one, but this aura of depression completely disappeared from it. He has a flatmate who barely spoke any English but seemed like a cute and funny guy. And two huge and beautiful cats who were very amusing.
We spent quite a lot of time there, listening to music, watching movies, and playing with the cats.
One of these movies was
Cabaret, which made me realize that Hollywood made me forget how to
watch a movie instead of just
seeing it. I'm not trying to blame everything on Hollywood here, but I don't really think that the movies of today(at least the popular ones) don't make use of the possibilities that are hidden in motion picture as art. Technology is just struggling forward with ever-improving special effects, but there is no meaning behind. I was very glad to be reminded how to use my brain throughout to movie by this work of art.
Markus showed us the
Elect the Dead Sypmhony by
Serj Tankian. I don't have too much to say about it, except that it was a 55 minute sheer thrill. I always looked up to Serj as an artist without deeply immersing in what he is actually up to, but now that I've seen this, he's grown to astronomical heights in my eyes! Also, I never really did realize what an amazing singing talent he is. On this album, rock+classical collaboration are taken to the next level. Even if I'm trying to be really critical, I cannot rate this album less than 11 out of 10.
The DVD is very amusing and I'd say it's worth buying if you can afford. He says music isn't written, it comes from the Universe to all of us- what I found the most entertaining about the DVD is to watch him smile that delighted smile for almost an hour straight, looking up to the sky, as if he could really feel the music of the Universe that very moment
New album is coming out just these Tuesday, two very promising singles already out on Youtube. I'm really excited! Yeah, I totally became a fan....
I also got the new KoRn album as a present. I don't want to talk too much of this at the moment, because I'm planning to write a complete review on it a bit later. But I can honestly say that it was VERY much to my satisfaction!
The fun times are over now, but I still have a lot to look forward to. School is hard, but I intentionally picked up fewer lessons than before, so I'll have more time for something that really matters: art!
But that's not even the beginning: in exactly a week i'm going to have the best day of my life. I'm finally going to see KORN LIVE!!!
I spent as much money on this adventure as I usually spend in a month, but I say, if I would have had to spend twice as much, It would still worth it! I have to see them before I die, and who knows how long i live, so I had decided that next time they would come anywhere near my country, I will go, no matter what the price...
I don't want to be in the first row, just so close that I can see Jonathan's face....
But this is still not all: Tobi's family invited me to go with them to Denmark. I'm totally excited about that, it's going to be the first time for me to be to a Scandinavian country. I hope I can make use of my little Norwegian knowledge there
In general, things are going unusually great for me... I'm sure the rest of 2010 will be totally awesome....
The stars are falling, make a wish quick...
